With a central focus on climate finance, COP29 brought together nearly 200 countries in Baku, and Azerbaijan, and reached a breakthrough agreement to triple finance to developing countries—from the previous goal of USD 100 billion annually to USD 300 billion annually by 2035. The agreement also secures efforts by all actors to work together to scale up finance to developing countries, from public and private sources to USD 1.3 trillion per year by 2035. A lot has transpired from Baku's UN Climate Conference, including a new finance goal for the developing world. The final deal, agreed upon in Azerbaijan, will see developed countries pay USD 300 billion a year by 2035 to help poorer countries mitigate the impact of climate change. We unpack this with Alphonse Nkurunziza, Coordinator, Students Against EACOP, and Paul Twebaze, Research Fellow, ACODE. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
