Government is moving to introduce a new programme to help stem the rising tide of violence in schools. Confirmation of this from Minister in the Office of the Attorney General with Responsibility for Crime Corey Lane. He says his office is working alongside a number of Ministries to identify and initiate necessary interventions for those children involved in conflict. The Minister stresses they have already been working with the Ministry of Education to arrest violence in schools, as prevention is always better than cure. He was speaking following the signing of a Sister City Relationship with New York City. Regarding gun violence, Minister Lane says his office has been at work behind the scenes on crime prevention, but the remit of crime fighting remains the mandate of the Barbados Police Service.
