New sports pavilion at QC
After more than 30 years, students of Queen's College finally have a sports pavilion. A grand opening for the facility was held at the school, ahead of the start of inter-house sports. Trustee of the Give Back QC charity, Vivian-Anne Gittens, revealed the first attempt at the pavilion dated back to the early 90s at an estimated cost of 400 thousand dollars. She says that the building was eventually abandoned and demolished and construction of the new facility commenced in 2016. Ms Gittens says going forward, state-of-the-art furniture and equipment will be acquired, which will service not only Queen's College athletes but also those from four nearby primary schools. Minister of Education, Kay McConney, has lauded the school for increasing the number of technical and vocational subjects offered to students, including physical education and sport at the CAPE level.
