New York City Mayor Eric Adams said he was expected to be charged with federal crimes but declared he was innocent after the New York Times reported he had already been indicted following a long-running federal corruption investigation. In a speech recorded at his official residence, Adams said he would remain in office, describing any charges he may face as “entirely false, based on lies.” Defying calls from Democratic politicians for him to resign, he said: "You elected me to lead this city, and lead it I will."
