23/06/24
NBCLA

It’s been 10 years since California voters approved Proposition 47. It dramatically lowered the penalties for drug and theft of merchandise below $950 from felonies to misdemeanors. Now there is a move to reverse that. The so-called Homeless, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act will be in the November ballot. NBC4’S Conan Nolan talks with both sides. Jeff Reisig is the Yolo County DA. He represents Californians for Safer Communities Coalition. The organization supports increasing drug/theft penalties. Tinisch Hollins is the Executive Director of Californians for Safety and Justice. Her group opposes increasing drug/theft penalties.
