Nigeria blast kills at least 3, injures dozens as buildings collapse
At least three people were killed and dozens were injured on Tuesday, when explosives stored at a private residence detonated in Nigeria's Oyo state, its governor said on Wednesday. The neighbourhood of Ibadan, which is the capital of Oyo state, is about 130 kilometres from the country’s commercial capital of Lagos. Footage filmed by eyewitnesses showed badly damaged buildings and vehicles, as panicked residents stood on streets. According to officials, emergency services and security officials used bulldozers to clear debris during a search and rescue operation the day after. Gov. Seyi Makinde said in a statement that search and rescue operations were underway, adding that the state government would provide temporary accommodation for those who lost their homes.
