‘No grounds’ to say military leaders ‘acted against’ US interests in Afghanistan withdrawal
Former British commander Richard Kemp says there are no grounds to say US military leaders “deliberately acted against” the interests of America during its withdrawal from Afghanistan. According to reports, the Trump transition team is compiling a list of senior current and former US military officers who were directly involved in the Afghanistan withdrawal and exploring whether they could be court-martialled for their involvement. “The reality is many misjudgements were made by military people in the way this was conducted,” Mr Kemp told Sky News Australia. “I don’t think there is any grounds to say that they deliberately acted against the interests of the United States. “It’s an unfortunate aspect of the policies of the Biden government.”
