Former IDF spokesperson Jonathan Conricus says there have been “no real assurances” it will be safe for Israelis to “return to their homes” following a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon. Under the proposal, Hezbollah will withdraw its troops from the north of the Litani River approximately 30 kilometres from the Israeli border and the IDF will pull back its forces from Lebanese territory. “The biggest sticking point, I think, from an Israeli perspective is that there are no real assurances that it is safe for Israeli civilians to return to their homes,” Mr Conricus told Sky News Australia. “When the Prime Minister gave a pre-recorded video address to Israelis in Hebrew, he didn’t tell that it was safe for Israelis to return home.”
