‘Not enough time’: Labor's gambling advertising reform will not go through this year

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says a proposal to ban or restrict gambling advertising will not go through this year, according to government sources. “These proposed reforms – which include a potential ban on gambling ads online and a restriction during sporting matches and a restriction of just two gambling ads an hour on television – have been drawn up by the Communications Minister … but the view is that there isn’t enough time to bed them down before the end of the year,” Mr Clennell said. “These proposed reforms have also met industry resistance, amid debate it will hurt traditional media and the sporting codes.”
