Republicans have called for US President Joe Biden to resign from the White House after dropping out of the presidential election. The 81-year-old announced he was not seeking re-election on Sunday but was fit to continue as president until November. Republican Vice President nominee JD Vance posted to X following the breaking news. “If Joe Biden ends his re-election campaign, how can he justify remaining President?” “Not running for re-election would be a clear admission that President Trump was right all along about Biden not being mentally fit enough to serve as Commander-in-Chief. There is no middle ground,” he wrote. Biden’s decision comes after weeks of immense pressure by Democrats to step aside after his disastrous presidential debate performance. Following the 46th president’s announcement, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the November election. Harris accepted the endorsement by Biden, promising to “fight” and “together, we will win”.
