The Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Elderly Affairs is proud to join forces with the Saint Lucia Arthritis and Lupus Association (SLALA) to celebrate Arthritis Awareness Month this October. As part of the global movement, the Ministry is committed to raising awareness about arthritis, a noncommunicable, often chronic disease that significantly impacts the quality of life for many individuals in Saint Lucia and around the world. The celebration kicked off with “Wear Blue for Arthritis Day” on Friday, October 11, encouraging everyone to wear blue in support of the cause. On World Arthritis Day, Saturday, October 12, the Saint Lucia Arthritis and Lupus Association will host a relaxing sunrise walk along the Vigie Beach and Later in the month, on Friday, October 25, schools and workplaces are invited to participate in “Crazy Socks Day,” where participants can showcase their creativity by wearing fun socks and donating $1 per person to support arthritis awareness efforts. This year’s Arthritis Awareness Month is being observed under the theme “It’s In Your Hands; Take Action.” In line with this theme, SLALA has planned a series of activities to engage the public and raise awareness.
