University of Michigan Associate Professor Javed Ali explains how Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle could be removed from the job after being grilled at a House Oversight Committee hearing. “The director level of these departments and agencies they are presidential appointed and also believe the Secret Service director has to go through senate confirmation,” Mr Ali told Sky News Australia. “The Senate alone cannot force a cabinet-level office or someone who is president appointed … member of the government to leave; they all serve at the pleasure of the president. “If the president, no matter who that president is, wants that person’s resignation, they can demand it. “In this case, the director may be asked to resign by the president, or based on her own calculus, she could resign without that hand being played.”
