Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne has been defending the decision to deny entry to some Democratic Labour Party members, who wanted to attend the Party's annual conference at its George Street headquarters last Sunday. Focusing his attention on national issues Mr. Thorne outlined a four-pronged approach to addressing the crime situation in Barbados which he describes as brazen. It includes the military, utilising the Barbados Defence Force, legislative measures with the introduction of anti-gang legislation and socioeconomic initiatives - particularly creating jobs and a focus on returning to Barbadian morals. In addition to crime, the cost of living remains a matter of serious concern for the Opposition Leader, who highlighted the need for Barbadians to pay less for electricity.
