OPPOSITION LEADERS DEMAND DROPPING OF CHARGES AGAINST BESIGYE & LUTALE OR TRANSFER TO CIVILIAN C

A section of Opposition party leaders has condemned the ongoing trial of Dr. Kiiza Besigye and friend Obied Lutale by the General Court Martial. The team which gathered in Parliament in a ceremony organized by the leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, signed a joint statement entailing five demands including asking that the charges against the duo are dropped or else tried by the civilian courts. Dr. Besigye was recently extradited from Neighbouring Kenya on grounds that he and his friend Obed Lutale were found in possession of two pistols and other unlawful fire arms and ammunitions. National Unity Platform Party president Robert Kyagulanyi were among the leaders who signed on the joint statement.
