Orlando Halloween shooting: 2 dead, 6 injured after teen opens fire downtown
Two people are dead and at least six others are injured following a shooting in downtown Orlando, Fla. early Friday morning. As visitors and locals celebrated Halloween, officers responded to reports of shots fired at Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue and within minutes, a second shooting was witnessed by officers just south of there, according to Orlando Police Department Chief Eric Smith. The 17-year-old shooter was identified as Jalen Dwayne Edgar and has been previously charged for grand theft auto in 2023, according to Smith. Police bodycam footage captured the moment when Edgar was tackled to the ground by an officer, held to the ground and arrested. Smith says the injured victims were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) in stable condition. The Orlando Police Department’s investigation is ongoing.
