Over 500,000 ACRA searches; number of NRIC numbers disclosed unknown: Indranee Rajah

More than 500,000 search queries were made over 5 days in December when full NRIC numbers were accessible on ACRA’s new Bizfile portal, said Singapore’s Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah in parliament on Wednesday (Jan 8). The searches came from around 28,000 IP addresses in Singapore but the exact number of NRIC numbers disclosed is not known. Ms Indranee advised those concerned that their NRIC numbers may have been accessed to ensure their NRIC numbers are not used as passwords or for authentication.
