Palestinian officials confirm more than 30 people killed in Israeli airstrike

Palestinian officials have confirmed an Israeli airstrike late Thursday evening hit a post office in central Gaza. Reportedly more than 30 civilians were killed and rescuers continued to search for survivors throughout the evening. The Israeli Defence Force claimed it was targeting a senior Islamic Jihad fighter and attributed secondary explosions from Palestinian weapons as the cause for damage to nearby infrastructure.
