Palestinian students from Gaza rebuild futures in Qatar as war devastates their education dreams

A 17-year-old Palestinian student from Gaza, Layan Derbashi, is back to her studies after months of being displaced by Israel’s war, which disrupted her senior year of high school. She describes her return to school as reaching the Moon, after enduring bombings, internet shortages, and sheltering in a UN facility. Now in Doha, thanks to a scholarship from the Education Above All Foundation, Layan is back on track. Another student, Ibrahim Qudaih, is also rebuilding his life after losing his university and limbs in the war, starting a new degree in psychology in Qatar.
