Penny Wong calls Vladimir Putin a ‘coward’ at UN

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell has commented on Foreign Minister Penny Wong calling Russian President Vladimir Putin a “coward” at the United Nations. Ms Wong has given a speech at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York where she called for a ceasefire in the Middle East. “The Foreign Minister … declared the world cannot afford Lebanon to become another Gaza,” Mr Clennell said. “The minister also called Russian President Vladimir Putin a coward for vetoing Security Council action against his government over its illegal war on Ukraine. “The Foreign Minister’s Putin sledge occurred around the same time that US presidential candidate Donald Trump was meeting Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and saying that he had good relations with Vladimir Putin and Mr Zelenskyy. “Mr Trump also said that, if elected, he could pull together a Russia-Ukraine peace deal.”
