People would like a peaceful transfer of power in Bangladesh, says analyst
Bangladesh's military took temporary control of the country on Tuesday (Aug 6) after mass deadly protests forced long-time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign and flee. Her exit was a culmination of a student-led movement opposing job quotas that would disadvantage them, in a country where unemployment is rampant. Nusrat Chowdhury, associate professor of anthropology and sociology at Amherst College, tells CNA's Asia First that the country's citizens are tired of the violence and the uncertainty and they would like a peaceful transfer of power.
