Perception of crime rates and impact on US presidential election

Ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago starting on August 19, the party’s voters are expecting to hear their leaders discuss a range of issues from the economy to reproductive rights, as well as illegal immigration. But there’s another issue Republicans believe should be at the top of Democrats' talking points - violent crime. While there’s a perception that crime is on the up in the US, the reality may come as a surprise. Mitch McCann reports.
