Peter Dutton weighs in on tax cuts ahead of next election

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has left the door open for potential income tax cuts but would not confirm whether the Coalition will take a concrete policy to the next election. When questioned about the Coalition’s previous promise of “lower, simpler, and fairer” changes to the tax rate, Mr Dutton emphasised the importance of responsible economic management. “Of course, we want lower, fairer, simpler taxes, but we have to be able to pay for it,” Mr Dutton told Sky News Australia. “It will depend on the fiscal position when we get closer to the election; that will be obviously made known to us.”
