Philippines State of the Nation: President Marcos Jr addressed the nation amid protests
In the Philippines, President Ferdinand Marcos Junior ordered the shutdown of all online casino businesses, most of which are Chinese-owned, during his State of the Nation Address on Monday. It comes amid a high-profile investigation that has uncovered human trafficking, financial fraud, and other crimes. But while it’s a move prompted by public clamor, thousands of protesters outside Congress say they want Marcos to address the high cost of living above everything else.
