The proposed budget for 2025 projects tax revenues of 1.19 billion dollars, which is 18 per cent of the country's Gross Domestic Product, or its output of goods and services in a year. Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Gaston Browne emphasizes that this tax-to-GDP ratio falls well below the 25 per cent average across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union, ECCU. He argues that this contradicts claims in some circles about a high tax burden on residents.
