PM: Govt won’t override Paria board on diving tragedy

While the board of the Paria Fuel Trading Company operates under Government’s jurisdiction, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley says the Government has no intention of firing its members. He also says the government will not provide compensation to the families of the fallen divers. His comments come after a Commission of Enquiry found Paria guilty of criminal negligence whilst recommending that corporate manslaughter charges be laid against Paria’s executives. In response to questions from the Opposition in Parliament on Friday, Dr Rowley says his government will not override the Paria board. Here’s Radhica De Silva with more.
