The Australian government has announced a news bargaining incentive, meaning social media giants must strike new deals and pay media companies for news content in a bid to maintain public interest journalism. “I think the prime minister could be using particular fight with Meta as a distraction from his leadership on multiple fronts,” Mr Hardgrave told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “Let’s not be too distracted by it – it is the right move, but let’s not forget this other big game.”
