Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has publicly responded to concerns about the Labour Clauses Concessions Bill. The bill, which is to be debated in the House of Assembly this week, seeks to establish minimum rates and conditions for workers, which companies benefiting from tax concessions should adhere to. Speaking during a BLP Christ Church East branch meeting, Ms. Mottley revealed Government foregoes approximately 750 million dollars in revenue each year, as a result of tax concessions. Prime Minister Mottley says Government is simply legislating what has existed under the collective bargaining agreement with labour unions and hoteliers for the past 60 years. She's therefore dismissed suggestions the legislation may act as a deterrent to foreign investors.
