PM uses ‘tricky’ phrasing to ‘hide’ new negative gearing policy modelling
Nationals Senate Leader Bridget McKenzie discusses the possibility of the government changing negative gearing and capital gain tax legislation. The federal government could be exploring its options ahead of possible changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax. An anonymous government source says Labor has sought advice from Treasury on the possible changes which it could take to the next election. “It is inconceivable that he hasn’t discussed this with the Treasurer,” Ms McKenzie said. “It either highlights the dysfunction of the government that the Treasurer isn’t talking to the Prime Minister, or the Prime Minister is trying to be tricky with his phrases to hide the fact that they are right now modelling changes to negative gearing.”
