Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre challenged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during question period on Wednesday, claiming that some MPs from his party have “lost confidence” in his leadership, after a closed-door Liberal caucus meeting on Parliament Hill lasted about three hours. “Twenty-four Liberal MPs went to his caucus today to tell him that he's not worth the crime, cost or corruption,” Poilievre said. “But he wouldn't let them. He silenced half of the dissidents.” “In our caucus, people have always been free to speak their mind and have different perspectives,” Trudeau responded. “What is interesting, Mr. Speaker, is nobody in the Conservative caucus seems to have spoken out when one of their members got an all-expenses paid trip to an extreme anti-abortion church in Florida.” NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Trudeau and Poilievre also had an exchange about grocery visits to illustrate the cost of living, after Singh asked if Trudeau had “actually ever been to a grocery store.” Trudeau responded that he has “been to many,” while Poilievre quipped that it was “good to know” that Trudeau likes to go grocery shopping with others such as House Speaker Greg Fergus.
