Police stepping up efforts to tackle firearm offences
Barbados has recorded an overall reduction of major and minor crimes when compared to last year, although murders and commercial burglaries have increased. This was revealed by Police Commissioner Richard Boyce during a press conference at Police Headquarters this morning. It was called to among other things, discuss the recent spate of shootings, several of which have been fatal. Mr. Boyce says 444 major crimes have been recorded this year, compared to 406 in 2023, representing a 9% reduction. Minor crimes also reduced by 8%. The Commissioner says they will be stepping up efforts to tackle firearm offences.
