Pope prays for Lebanon, calls for cease-fire on other fronts

Pope Francis on Sunday (December 1) welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon, praying that it will be respected by both sides and allow populations to return to their homes. Appealing to all Lebanese politicians for the election of a new President of the Republic, the pontiff expressed his hope that ''the spiral of peace that has opened can bring a ceasefire on all fronts, especially Gaza.'' Saying that war ‘offends God and humanity’, Francis also prayed during the Angelus prayer for the victims in Syria and Ukraine. (Production: Oriana Boselli)
