Prabowo claims Indonesian presidential election victory; Gibran attributes it to youth vote
Indonesian presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto claimed victory hours after polling closed on Wednesday (Feb 14), with independent quick counts showing he had won nearly 60 per cent of votes. With vice-presidential running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka – who is also incumbent president Joko Widodo’s son – by his side, Mr Prabowo declared they "will be president and vice-president for all Indonesians". Mr Gibran said that they did not expect the result from the quick counts to be "this high". He added: "I am sure this big figure is because of the youths."
