Preparations underway, power outage warnings issued as "bomb cyclone" batters BC coast
Powerful winds have begun to batter parts of the British Columbia coast as the region faces a major fall storm. A powerful low-pressure centre has parked off the B.C. coast, and, with its pressure expected to continue falling, is forecast to generate intense easterly winds throughout Tuesday. This type of system is known as an explosive cyclogenesis, a bomb cyclone or a bombogenesis, which occurs when a rapid drop in atmospheric pressure is recorded at the centre of a storm system. Global's Kylie Stanton reports on the storm preparations underway and meteorologist Kristi Gordon has an update on what to expect overnight.
