Pressure growing for Gaza ceasefire: Israeli war cabinet meets as attacks continue
Israeli attacks continue across the Gaza Strip, even as talks ramp up inside Israel, and internationally around the latest plan to end the war. A divided Israeli war cabinet is meeting to discuss the latest ceasfire plan. The US president has said was proposed by Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's far-right ministers have threatened to topple the government if he agrees to the deal. And in Cairo, Egypt has told Israel that it must withdraw from the Rafah border crossing to allow it to operate again. Israel took military control of the crossing on the Palestinian side, just over three weeks ago. The Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from reporting in Israel, so Sara Khairat is in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with more on the meeting. Gideon Levy is a columnist with the Israeli daily paper Haaretz.
