Prevalence of diabetes greater in Bajan women compared to men

The prevalence of diabetes is greater in Barbadian women compared to males on island. The information was shared during the latest Oscar Jordan Diabetes Lecture on World Diabetes Day observed Thursday. Associate Professor of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies in the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Toronto, Dr. Nicole Charles says the finding is unusual given in most parts of the world, diabetes prevalence is similar in both sexes or higher in men.
