There has been an outpouring of pride among the kebaya-wearing community after the garment was inscribed by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage on Dec 4. For many, the global recognition is just the beginning, as they hope to inspire future generations on the kebaya's timeless style and elegance. CNA's Syahida Othman speaks to Raymond Wong, one of Singapore's Stewards of Intangible Cultural Heritage from Rumah Kim Choo. He shares the techniques that go into creating a kebaya and how the traditional garment is being modernised to reach out to more Singaporeans.
