Private equity funds to gain from new tax proposals

Officials in the tax and legal department at Deloitte Uganda have given mixed reactions to the new tax proposals but have also identified positives, especially regarding the exemption of private equity income. They say it will help expand the country’s savings base, currently at 12% of GDP, but also warned that the government must invest more in ensuring that more Ugandans meet their civil obligations by paying their fair share of taxes.
