‘Proud record’: Australia accepts more refugees than almost any other country

Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham has commented on Australia’s “proud record” of accepting more refugees on a per capita basis than “almost any other country”. New figures show Australia is accepting more refugees from Gaza than most other developed nations. “Australia is a generous country, and we are historically one of the most generous countries in the world, accepting more refugees for permanent resettlement on a per capita basis than almost any other country in the world,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia. “That is something we should have a proud record of.”
