Public, private sector urged to follow SHAW Act
A retired trade unionist is making a plea for the public and private sectors to follow the guidelines of the Safety and Health At Work Act. Former Public Relations and Health and Safety Officer, Barbados Workers Union Orlando 'Gabby' Scott says the call is necessary at this time amid an increase in sick building complaints and the recent fatality in the construction industry. Addressing the issue at the opening of the BWU's 'Safety 360 Symposium' Mr. Scott said workplaces are also duty bound to ensure their safety and health committes are functioning.
