Public warned of dangers of fentanyl
As the United States of America grapples with a fentanyl overdose crisis, local officials have been ramping up education efforts to ensure citizens understand its dangers. Pharmacist Julie Williams says the synthetic opioid is very strong and can easily cause death on exposure, especially without the proper safety equipment. Fentanyl is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and about 100 times stronger than morphine as a pain reliever. Ms. Williams was speaking during a presentation at the offices of the National Council on Substance Abuse.
