Push for beach culture in Barbados
Brian "De Action Man" Talma has received a commitment from an international water sports brand to help with his push for beach culture in Barbados. Talma, who is now sponsored by German company "Core", says the same company has pledged over 20 thousand dollars to help train local youth in wing foiling, windsurfing and paddle boarding. However, the equipment will only be made available to Barbados if Government and corporate Barbados assist in setting out the framework for a structured programme. Speaking to CBC Sports at the Action Beach Shop, Talma says it will form part of a project that he started years ago - "The Beach Culture World Tour" - to help underprivileged children within communities. Talma, who will be inducted into the windsurfing hall of fame this year in France, has reaped success from a similar project in the Dominican Republic and Hawaii. He says ideally he would love to target schools in the Christ Church area.
