Qantas engineers to strike on Monday over wage dispute

Qantas is reassuring passengers there will be no disruptions to flights despite ongoing industrial action by hundreds of its engineers. The engineering staff, represented by the Alliance Unions, are demanding a 15 per cent payment in the first year to compensate for wage freezes over the past three-and-a-half years, along with a 5 per cent pay increase annually. The airline says in a statement: “We have contingencies in place and don't expect Monday's planned strike action to have an impact on customers, or their travel plans.”
