The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is investigating the circulation of a message encouraging workers to withdraw labour. The QEH says the message and associated actions were not sanctioned by the National Union of Public Workers, which represents the majority of hospital workers. Chief Executive Officer, Neil Clarke confirms there have been staff absences as the message made the rounds. In a statement issued after a management meeting earlier today, he expressed concern about the potential impact on patient care. Mr. Clarke says concerns about hazard pay appear to be the motivation behind the efforts to disrupt operations at the QEH.
