Qld Premier promises to establish state-run energy retailer if re-elected

Queensland Premier Steven Miles is promising to establish a state-run energy retailer if re-elected. According to The Courier Mail, the new retailer would operate statewide, unlike the publicly owned Ergon Energy, which only powers regional communities. The premier says the plan is aimed at providing cheaper power bills to households. It is understood the proposal would be funded by Energy Queensland’s existing budget.
