Queensland government commits $3b to Sunshine Coast direct rail line

The Queensland government is pouring nearly $3 billion into building a critical rail line in the Sunshine Coast. The Miles government has conceded that it won't be fully built in time for the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane. The direct rail line from Beerwah to Maroochydore has long been a pipe dream for the Sunshine Coast. Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick says the Federal government has already put $1.6 billion “on the table” to help with the project. The state opposition has criticised the business case for the project, believing it could have been completed by 2032 under their government.
