Queensland students to be handed ‘power’ to appeal suspensions

Sky News host Paul Murray has taken aim at the “power” being handed to Queensland students as new legislation will allow them to appeal suspensions. The Australian has revealed the state government has passed legislation allowing parents and students to appeal school suspensions. “We’re talking about short term suspensions,” Mr Murray said. “It is extraordinary that this power would be handed over to kids and parents to be able to challenge one of the few tools teachers have in the discipline of their schools. “When the OECD tells us that the behaviour in our classrooms gets worse and worse and worse.”
