According to principal Georgina Deluque, about 40% of the students at the Paraguachon school site are migrants from the Venezuelan side of the border. "We have found and continue to find children who have been out of school for three or four years, children who stopped going to school four or five years ago in Venezuela. Then, they realize that by crossing the border, they can access education. So they are children of a certain age, but their knowledge and competency are not at the level of their age group."
