"Lost decade": Poilievre says Liberal energy policies left Canada vulnerable to Trump tari
Speaking at an event in the Quebec village of L'Orignal on Monday, Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre outlined how a different approach to Canadian energy policy in the last decade-plus would have left the nation far better prepared for the current U.S. - Canada trade war initiated by President Donald Trump. "Why don't we repeal [Bill] C-69, the 'No New Piplelines' law?" Poilievre asked. "Rapidly approve LNG plants, pipelines, mines, port expansions - so that we don't have to sell 100 per cent of our natural gas exports to the Americans." Meanwhile, new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is in France, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron before leaving for the United Kingdom later on Monday. This was Carney’s first in-person meeting with an international leader as prime minister.
