"One in a million" piece of space debris crashes on remote village in Kenya
A large metallic ring suspected to be debris from a rocket in space crashed in Mukuku Village in Kenya’s south on Monday, the country’s space agency said. According to the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), preliminary assessments suggest that this object is a separation ring from a rocket’s launch vehicle. The KSA promptly responded to the incident by securing the crash site and retrieving the debris for further analysis and investigations on the origin of the fallen object. There were no reported casualties or significant damages resulting from this incident. "The plate ring, I will call it the plate ring that has fallen here, is just one in a million because, rarely will you see this coming down because often (often), they will burn before coming down to the earth’s surface," said investigating officer from KSA, Major Alois Were.
