"Outrageous": Israel's Netanyahu rejects genocide charge after World Court ruling

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Israel was committed to international law after the World Court ordered it to take action to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza, but he reiterated that it had a right to defend itself. "The charge of genocide levelled against Israel is not only false, it’s outrageous, and decent people everywhere should reject it," he said. Ruling on a case brought by South Africa, the court said Israel must take measures to improve the humanitarian situation for Palestinian civilians in the enclave but stopped short of calling for a ceasefire.
